  1. sugar candy says:

Extreme caution must be used when cleaning real wood blinds.

NEVER use water or water based cleaning products on wooden blinds. Water or even excessive moisture can permanently damage the wood slats.

The best way to clean wood blinds is with a feather duster or soft head vacuum attachment. If a cleaning product is used, make sure it is something you would use on your fine furniture as well, something that is made for cleaning wood (no water based products) like a furniture polish.

Normally cleaning products will never be required if the blinds are cleaned on a regular basis.
NEVER submerse wood blinds in anything.

Now you could try this to get the water spots out…

Put 1 tbsp. of mayonnaise on a paper towel. Gently press the paper towel on the water spot and let it stand for 15 to 20 minutes. Lift the towel and check the area. Wipe the area with a clean cloth to remove the mayonnaise. For tough stains, leave the paper towel overnight.

Use white toothpaste to polish the water mark on the wood. Do not apply gel-based toothpaste. Rub gently with a cloth until the mark disappears.

Purchase a wood polish designed for wood finish type. Apply the polish to the water spot and buff the area according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Clean the water spot with a product containing oxalic acid to remove a heavy water stain. This works by bleaching the wood surface. Finish by using wood polish on the area.

    Tips:

Use caution and wear gloves when working with chemicals and wood polish.

    Good Luck!
