How do I take down vertical window blinds?

New window coverings are being delivered today. It’s my task to take down the old ones. I can’t see how they are attached to the window frame.

So I’m renting an apartment that has vertical blinds on all the widows. They’re useful, but not the most pleasant things to look at. I’m trying to put some decor in my house, so I’d like some ideas. Layering overthem is fine. We’re kind of on a low budget, too.

So any ideas? Details please. Links and pictures appreciated!
I already HAVE vertical blinds and can’t take them down because it’s in an apartment I’m renting. I just want some suggestions as how to fancy them up.
